About the Artist

Originally from Pennsylvania, I have been a Floridian now for more than twenty years. I was a lover of books ever since I learned to read and began writing stories almost as soon as I learned to write.

When I was in junior high school, I was thrilled to have some of my short pieces about school activities published in a local newspaper. I became an avid reporter for the school paper in high school, and then worked hard as the editor for two years. It was a great honor to be named editor of the class year book when I was a senior.

After graduation, I attended school in Pittsburgh and became a Registered Nurse. Following a year of graduate work at the Neurological Institute in New York City, I returned to Pittsburgh for study to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

My life-long connection to the medical world was assured when I married a good-looking intern. While he worked to mend people, I concentrated on raising our family, two sons and a daughter, first in Philadelphia and then in our home in Cleveland, Ohio.

Living on the shores of Lake Erie was a powerful inducement to give boating a try and when we did, our family promptly became enthusiastic converts. We enjoyed many trips on the Great Lakes and nearby rivers. Years later, when my husband and I decided to move to Florida, I completed a live-aboard, week-long women’s boating course before we traveled all the way from Cleveland to Florida on our family boat.

Although I never totally gave up writing, I returned to it seriously when the children required less care. To my astonishment, my writing began to sell — occasionally, at least. I’ve been at it ever since.

Besides being a founding member of the National Women’s History Museum, I belong to the International Women’s Writing Guild and am a long-time member of the Space Coast Writing Guild where I have served on the board and won several prizes for my short stories. I am currently preparing a novel and a completed collection of short stories for submission to publishers.
